The good weather is finally coming out, so it's time now to start the spring cleaning. Difficult winters or accumulated dirt are some of the many reasons why we put windows on the top on the cleaning list!

To help you in your cleaning, here are 10 handy tips to have clean and shining windows without leaving a trace:

1- Prepare your window
Before cleaning your windows, always remove the dust and clean the frames around them first. You will avoid the adhesion of dirt and duplicate work if you snagged your clean windows washing your frames.

2- From outside to inside, from left to right
It is important for optimal cleaning to start cleaning outside the window and then inside. You will see better the remaining spots. In addition, opt for a repetitive movement that you will remember easily, from left to right for example, to avoid ironing the washed surface and create new marks.

3- Avoid sunny days
Choose to wash your windows during a cloudy day. The sun dries the cleaning products too quickly used on the windows, which can leave marks that we would rather avoid.

4- Use a microfibre cloth
The microfibre cloth is perfect for cleaning windows, because it does not leave marks unlike rags used, which leave fibres and undesirable spots. For flawless windows, use 2 microfibre cloths: one to clean and another to wipe off the remaining residues.

5- Not a fan of the microfibre cloth? Use a squeegee.
The rubber squeegee is a tool of choice for many for its ease of use. Apply cleaner to the surface of the glass, then simply wick the squeegee up and down to remove stains.

6- Your best ally : White vinegar
It's the ultimate product for housekeeping, and it’s no exception here. For windows, white vinegar is very effective against stubborn dirt, leaves no trace and drive out flies. Mix 250 ml of vinegar with 250 ml of hot water, clean and you're done! And it is just as effective for your car windows.

7- A solution for persistent stains
If you have persistent stains of paint or dirt that need special maintenance, try this easy-to-clean solution at home. Mix 2 cups of water with a quarter cup of dishwashing liquid and a quarter cup of rubbing alcohol, then scrub with a soft cloth.

8- Remove traces on windows with crumpled newspaper
The crumpled newspaper is one of the best old-fashioned tricks. The printing ink is an excellent cleaner and the paper has a very absorbent power, which is perfect for easy an effective cleaning, and above all, without traces! Just moisten it and rub it.

9- Glycerine against fog
Glycerine is excellent to prevent fogging in your windows during temperature changes. Just add a few drops on your cleaning cloth (or on an old nylon stocking for more shining) before rubbing the windows. It is also often used against dirt and dust accumulation on windows.

10- Ammonia against frost
Ammonia is effective at preventing the formation of frost on windows in winter. Just add a few drops to your cleaning water. Also, it acts as a powerful degreaser on mirrors and glasses. The cleaning solution is simple: half ammonia, half water for a perfect clean result.
